On Friday, July 28th, at around 8 pm, the Zachary Police Department responded to a shooting incident at the intersection of New Weis Road and Lee Street. Tragically, an 18-year-old Black female named Makayla Moore was pronounced dead at the scene.
As of now, there are two identified suspects in connection with the shooting. Chief Darryl Lawrence, Sr. of the Zachary Police Department addressed the incident, expressing concern about the rise in crime in the city and the specific neighborhood. He emphasized the department’s dedication to solving crimes and implementing strategies to reduce crime, prioritizing the safety of the residents.
