Woman Pleads Not Guilty to Carjacking and Abandoning Vehicle With Dog Inside

The woman accused of carjacking a vehicle, running over its owner while fleeing, then later abandoning the truck and leaving the owner’s dog inside the vehicle, has pleaded not guilty to the charges. The dog was deceased when the vehicle was finally located the next day back in July.

Leslie Aguillard was charged with Carjacking, Theft of a Vehicle, Theft of an Animal, Attempted Second-Degree Murder, Cruelty to an Animal and Theft.

The vehicle was parked at Pelican Donuts on Tiger Bend Road while the owner ran inside but left the vehicle running. He told deputies that an unidentified woman, later identified as Aguillard, jumped into the truck which had his dog inside, and drove off. Aguillard ran over the victim on the way out of the parking lot. He was transported to the ER and had to undergo surgery for his injuries.

The truck was found the next day in the 4000 block of S. Sherwood Forest Blvd, abandoned. The dog was found dead inside the vehicle.
