Man Found Shot Inside of Home

Update

FREDERICK JACKSON, 35, 144 SOUTH BECK, was found shot to death inside of his residence early this morning around 12:17am. Jackson was last seen on Saturday, June 26, 2010, around 9:00pm.  The motive for this shooting is unknown at this time.  Anyone with information on this shooting is urged to contact the Homicide Office at 389-4869 or Crime Stoppers at 344-STOP.

On this date and time BRPD officers responded to a man down in the residence of above address.. Once officers arrived on scene and looked thru the opened window to the residence it was clear to see a b/m down inside the residence on the floor suffering from gun shot wounds to the body. Force entry into the residence was made and it was discovered the victim had been shot and was deceased.  Homicide Detectives were notify and responded to the scene where they took over the investigation. There are no known suspects, and anyone with any information is asked to call the Homicide division at 389-4869 or crime stoppers at 344-STOP.

Man found Shot to Death in Backyard

Update

The victim in last night’s shooting has been identified as CHRISTOPHER MILES, 27, 2014 EAST BELFAIR. Miles was found shot to death in the back yard of his residence. Anyone with information on this shooting is urged to contact the Homicide Office at 389-4869 or Crime Stoppers at 344-STOP.

On June 30, 2010 at 8:00pm BRPD responded to 2014 East Belfair relative to a shooting.  Once officers arrived they located in the back yard a b/m victim who had been shot multiple times to the body and was deceased. At this time there are no suspects or motives.  Homicide division responded to the scene. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Homicide Division. at 389-4869 or Crime stopper at 344-STOP.

Traffic Fatality on East I-12

Update
The deceased driver from the traffic crash on East I-12 that occurred on June 29, 2010 around 9:55pm has been identified as KEVIN NICHOLAS, 44, 11544 ASHLEY LN, APT A, HAMMOND, LA.
No charges are pending at this time.

On this date and time BRPD responded to a major traffic crash at 800 E I-12 involving a 2003 Saturn VUE and a 2006 International CVE with a trailer. The driver of the Saturn had to be extricated from the vehicle and was transported to local hospital where he died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the International suffered no injuries. The investigation on scene revealed that the Saturn was E.bound on I-12 in the right lane of travel and for reasons unknown driver began to change to the center lane striking the rear of the trailer impacting the DOT guard which prevented the Saturn from going underneath the trailer.
The BRPD Traffic Homicide Unit responded and are currently investigating the case.

Arrest Made in Woman’s Murder

Detectives have charged FRANKLIN MEREDITH JR., 42, 2578 FARRAR STREET, with 1st Degree Murder in connection with the death of JENNIFER GONZALES. Gonzales, 29, was found dead in Monte Sano Bayou on April 14th. An autopsy indicated she had been raped, beaten and choked before she drowned.
Meredith was already in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison, arrested on June 22, 2010 for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender. A subsequent comparison of his DNA matched evidence collected from the body of the victim, according to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab.

McDonalds Robbers Sought

Detectives are attempting to identify two suspects who robbed the MCDONALD’S, 2220 S. SHERWOOD FOREST, on June 15th at approximately 11:35pm. The suspects apparently hid in the restroom until after closing, then came out with guns and robbed the employees of personal items as well as money from the business. No one was injured.
Suspect #1 is a black male, 5’10”, slim build. #2 is a black male, 5’9”, dark complexion. They were seen fleeing on foot westbound from the business after the crime.

Drug Arrest

EDGARDO VALASQUEZ, 29, 1625 MYRTLE WALK, was arrested and charged with PWITD Alprazolam, MDMA and Marijuana, as well as Possession of a  Firearm with a Controlled Dangerous Substance.
As part of an ongoing investigation narcotics agents executed a search warrant at Valasquez’s home yesterday morning and seized 1,156 grams of Marijuana, 33 dosage units of Alprazolam and 5 dosage units of MDMA, as well as other drug paraphernalia and a 9mm pistol.

Shooting on Topeka Street

On this date and time BRPD responded to a shooting at the above location. Upon arrival officers located a b/m who advised he had been shot one time by an unknown b/m after he was approached by 2 b/m’s.in the 3500 block of Topeka st. Victim advised he attempted to run but didn’t get far after he was shot. Both suspects fled the scene. EMS arrived on scene and transported victim to an area hospital for his non life threantening injuries.

More information will be issued at a later time.

DWI Checkpoint Results

The Baton Rouge Police Department conducted a sobriety checkpoint during the early morning hours of Thursday, 6/17/10, in the 5400 block of Perkins Rd. A total of 170 vehicles were screened. 9 Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were administered, resulting in the arrests of 7 people for Driving While Intoxicated. Officers also issued 15 traffic citations and made 1 arrest for drinking in vehicle and 1 arrest for Possession of Marijuana.

The Baton Rouge Multi-Agency Homicide Task Force is arresting five more suspects as part of an ongoing  investigation into recent murders and other serious crimes in the area. The suspects were indicted this afternoon by an East Baton Rouge Parish grand jury for their involvement in the following crimes:

TORRENCE HATCH, A/K/A “LIL BOOSIE” 27, 1132 POMPEY
Status: Already incarcerated at Dixon Correctional Institute

  • 1st Degree Murder of Terry Boyd, 35, shot to death inside his residence at 16837
  • Vermillion Drive on 10/21/09. The shots were fired from outside the home through a
  • window.
  • 3 counts PWITD Narcotics (Schedule II-Codeine, Schedule I-Ecstacy and Schedule IMarijuana)
  • 3 counts Conspiracy to commit PWITD Narcotics
  • 2 counts Conspiracy to Introduce Contraband into a Penal Institution

WALNITA DECUIR, 25, 1132 POMPEY
Status: At-large, Wanted

  • 3 counts PWITD Narcotics (Schedule II-Codeine, Schedule I-Ecstacy and Schedule IMarijuana)
  • 3 counts Conspiracy to commit PWITD Narcotics
  • 2 counts Conspiracy to Introduce Contraband into a Penal Institution

REGINALD YOUNGBLOOD, 32, 10635 WILLOWOOD DRIVE
Status: Arrested this afternoon, in custody

  • 2 counts 1st Degree Murder of Charles Matthews and Darryl Milton, which occurred on 4/1/10 in 1400 block of Monte Sano Avenue. Both men shot to death while sitting inside a car.
  • 2 counts Attempted 1st Degree Murder. The first occurred 2/22/10 at 5725 Tioga. A male victim inside the home was shot in the back. The shots were fired from outside, through a window. The second case was on 3/6/10, 5725 Tioga, the same location but a different victim. The man was shot in the wrist as he was getting out of his car.

Status: Arrested today, in custody

  • 1 count Conspiracy to Introduce Contraband into a Penal Institution

Decuir remains at-large and is being sought. She is a black female, 25-years old, 5’5”, 150
lbs. Anyone with information on her whereabouts is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 344-
7867.
Hatch, Decuir, inmate Riley and Wilson, who was employed as a guard at Dixon Correctional, are accused of participating in a conspiracy to smuggle contraband into the prison.  The Task Force comprises the Baton Rouge Police Department, East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana State Police, East Baton Rouge District Attorney’s Office, U.S. Marshal’s Service and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
This is an ongoing investigation and further information will be released as it becomes available.
