Law Enforcement Responds to Reported Shooting at Burbank Walmart

EBRSO and Baton Rouge Police responded to a report of an active shooter at the Walmart on Burbank Drive. Upon arrival, police confirmed that the incident was an active scene, but not an active shooter.

According to Sheriff Sid Gautreaux, 2 individuals got into an argument inside the store and each drew a weapon. One of the suspects fired his weapon and struck an innocent bystander. The shooter then fled the scene and is still at large as of 1:45 pm. The 2nd individual involved in the altercation has been taken into custody.

Authorities are reporting that one victim with a gunshot wound was transported to a local hospital in a personal vehicle before the arrival of EMS.

Later, Sheriff Gautreaux submitted a statement to WBRZ stating that no shots were fired inside the Walmart store, however, there was an altercation between 2 customers that escalated, resulting in the injury of a bystander. That victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
