East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an armed robbery at the Regions Bank on Siegen Lane at approximately 12:30 this afternoon in which a man entered the bank in a hat and sunglasses. He passed the teller a note stating he had a weapon and demanded money. The teller gave the suspect cash before he fled on foot.
Deputies, K-9 and Air Support were on scene within minutes and located the man’s shirt and hat nearby. While setting up a perimeter deputies spotted the suspect at the Shell gas station on Perkins Road. The man fled on foot and hopped a nearby fence into an adjacent neighborhood. A deputy that was part of the perimeter was stationed on the other side of the fence and took the suspect into custody without incident at approximately 1:30.
Dillon A. Williams, 28, will be charged with Armed Robbery.
“I’m proud of the fast response made by these men and women that led to a quick apprehension,” Sheriff Sid Gautreaux said. “This kind of coordinated effort is exactly what we need to keep our community safe. I’m grateful no one was hurt, and the suspect is in custody.”
