Baton Rouge Police Detectives have charged 34-year-old Brandon Edwards, Baton Rouge, with multiple counts of Rape, Sexual Battery and Indecent Behavior with Juveniles after a recent investigation.
According to a warrant Edwards is alleged to have raped a 17-year-old female multiple times over the past 2 years. During an interview with the victim at the Victim’s Advocacy Center investigators learned that Edwards began sexually assaulting the girl, then a freshman in high school, at her home in 2017.
In the first incident, the victim stated that Edwards came into her room to console her after she had an argument with her grandmother. Edwards began caressing the girl on her leg and moved it to her vagina and continued rubbing the girl there.
During another incident, the victim stated Edwards came into her room one night while she was in bed. She said Edwards was touching himself and began touching her vagina again. Edwards left the room after the victim told him she could see him.
The girl told detectives she alerted her father and his girlfriend about the incidents but “neither of them did anything.”
In March of 2019 the victim alleges that Edwards came into her room, got on top of her and raped her. She tried unsuccessfully to fight him off. Detectives also learned that in June of 2019 Edwards raped her again after coming into her room and putting a pillow over her head.
Detectives arrested Edwards on Thursday and charged him with 3 counts of 2nd Degree Rape, 3 counts of Sexual Battery and 2 counts of Indecent Behavior with Juveniles.
He was transported to EBR Parish Prison where he is currently being held in lieu of a $265,000 bond.
